An Unusual Christmas Present

We had a really unusual Christmas present from Matt & Zoe and one that was much appreciated. We have a poppy from the remarkable display at the Tower of London from 2014.

Michael & I took Amber & Phoebe to see the installation in September and it was amazing!! Our poopy should be with us in February 2015.

Bradgate Park

A beautiful Friday morning, the sun is shining and after completing some small tasks (like collecting my contact lenses) we headed off to Bradgate Park.
The park was quite busy with lots of families taking advantage of the lovely weather to take the children pond fishing.
As we walked along the young deer were very happily plodding around, at one point it felt like I was being stalked.

This one was definitely following me....

I love this part of the river

Twycross Zoo

Well we are all off to the Zoo, well Michael and I are taking Amber, Phoebe and Joshua to Twycross. I hope we have a good day and that Matt and Zoe will have some quiet time with Tobias.
Although it was cloudy we had hoped to avoid the rain but come the middle of the day it poured down so we headed to the indoor play. Had some lunch and then we let the kids loose on the soft play area.
Of course that sounds simple to you realise they had to wear socks and the girls weren't, so off to the shops for a pair of socks each!!!
However after the play the weather cleared and we headed back into the zoo. A good time was had by all but there three weary grandchildren and two weary grandparents at the end......

NEW BABY...BOY ARRIVED

As ever the phone went at 2am on Monday morning for me to go over to stay with the children....After Matt & Zoe headed off I was able to rest on their bed and drift off for a couple of hours sleep.
Joshua awoke around 5.45 and came to his parents room to be surprised when he saw me...he said HELLO and then jumped into bed with me just as his dad called to say the baby had arrived. I'm not sure how much Joshua took in but he was excited because he had a baby brother......a whopping 9lbs 2.5ozs

Lily Day

We went to visit Lily, oh and her mum and dad....

Isn't she beautiful !!!
We went out to lunch with Rachel and Lily and then we wondered around Darwen heading off to find the Minerva craft shop. What an amazing place with all sorts of wonderful fabrics, wools you name it they had it. Managed to restrain myself from spending.
We all went out in the evening to the Houghton Arms for tea. It was a lovely day and I am so pleased that Rachel has a job.

Family Grave- Page

We managed to clear Michael's grandparents grave, cut away the grass and weeds. Michael cemented the ends. We laid the chippings we bought and I put the flowers on and the grave looked loved again.
Here is this grave are buried
Margaret Page  - child
Elsie - wife - died in her 70's having married 3 times in all
Percy - husband - died in his 30's

Although the lead lettering is not completely clear it is just about readable. As we were doing the work we chatted with a lady who had only recently found her mothers grave, her mother had died when she was a child and her father had never told her where she was buried. Interesting stories out there.

Clear up

Michael had an eye test this morning and I went off to try to reduce my mobile phone costs. Found a deal for £16.99 and a free phone! Yeah only now I have a spare IPhone . Then it was off to Saffron Hill cemetery to tidy up the graves.
Mum and dads looked nice when we had finished and we started to clear up michaels gparents grave. We cleared weeds and need to get some chippings to cover the top

My Birthday

Wow my birthday today cant believe I am 62 years old, where did all the years go... but we got up today to wet stuff......
We took the car to have the tyre sorted and while we were there the rain hammered down.
After the tyres had been fitted we went to Trelawney Garden Centre to buy my present of a necklace and a trinket box. I also got a new can opener....for old people !
We had soup for lunch at Trelawney and then we went back to Chapel Amble. The weather cleared and it was very pleasant.
This evening we went out to dinner at The Maltsters and a lovely meal and a dessert.
From hammering rain to lovely sunshine

Adventurers in Falmouth & Redruth

So off we went to Falmouth. The sky was a bit grey but it was still very warm. We walked through the town and pottered in some of the shops before heading to the Harbourside Inn for lunch.
We had an amazing all day breakfast! each.
The sky cleared and it improved we decided to head over to Redruth to see if we could find The Sewing Studio.
We found the right road and a parking area and must have driven past the shop before we parked and as we walked back we turned the wrong way and had to ask where it was! then we found we had walked past it.!!!
Had a lovely splurge in the shop, bought some great Star Wars angry birds fabric to make Joshua a backpack.
The weather had really improved and the sun was shining and very warm. As we came back along the A30 I hit what looked like a brick and the tyre blew out, so we had to change the tyre and drive carefully back to Wadebridge. We were able to get the tyre ordered at a good price at Tregonning Ford. So we have to go back tomorrow to have it fitted.

Note my yacht in the background!

A day at the Seaside

Tuesday dawns and the weather is beautiful the sky is blue. We had a leisurely start to the day and decided that we were going to go to the beach this afternoon.

We headed off to enjoy Boscastle in the morning. As we approached the harbour side I saw my first real live Adder. It had been sunbathing on the rocks. It was surprisingly small and quite pretty, but I didn't need to get acquainted!

After a sunning of the humans we went back to Polzeath.  It was great to go on the beach and just laze and read a book. We had a dip in the sea and thoroughly enjoyed it. The sea was very warm.

St Columb & Mevagissy -Monday 23rd

The weather looks good and we went to Tesco to buy some flowers for the family grave. We drove to st Columb and we went through the back way by the cemetery. The sun was really coming out as we found the graves and Michael managed to find some water for the flowers. We used a cut off plastic bottle for the case inset, which worked really well. We also did the same for Richards grave and cleared the overgrowth away.

After leaving St Columb we headed off to Mevagissy . We parked on the large car park and walked down to the town. We walked along the harbour and then sat on side of the outer harbour. I spent a lovely hour chatting with a local resident who told me of her life having been born inMevagissy   and then spent her time working abroad before eventually returning to a Mevagissy . We walked back into town and had lunch at Sharskin. We had a table by an open window and a great lunch. I was glad to be out of the direct sun it was so hot.
