My Birthday

Wow my birthday today cant believe I am 62 years old, where did all the years go... but we got up today to wet stuff......
We took the car to have the tyre sorted and while we were there the rain hammered down.
After the tyres had been fitted we went to Trelawney Garden Centre to buy my present of a necklace and a trinket box. I also got a new can opener....for old people !
We had soup for lunch at Trelawney and then we went back to Chapel Amble. The weather cleared and it was very pleasant.
This evening we went out to dinner at The Maltsters and a lovely meal and a dessert.

Adventurers in Falmouth & Redruth

So off we went to Falmouth. The sky was a bit grey but it was still very warm. We walked through the town and pottered in some of the shops before heading to the Harbourside Inn for lunch.
We had an amazing all day breakfast! each.
The sky cleared and it improved we decided to head over to Redruth to see if we could find The Sewing Studio.
We found the right road and a parking area and must have driven past the shop before we parked and as we walked back we turned the wrong way and had to ask where it was! then we found we had walked past it.!!!
Had a lovely splurge in the shop, bought some great Star Wars angry birds fabric to make Joshua a backpack.
The weather had really improved and the sun was shining and very warm. As we came back along the A30 I hit what looked like a brick and the tyre blew out, so we had to change the tyre and drive carefully back to Wadebridge. We were able to get the tyre ordered at a good price at Tregonning Ford. So we have to go back tomorrow to have it fitted.

A day at the Seaside

Tuesday dawns and the weather is beautiful the sky is blue. We had a leisurely start to the day and decided that we were going to go to the beach this afternoon.

We headed off to enjoy Boscastle in the morning. As we approached the harbour side I saw my first real live Adder. It had been sunbathing on the rocks. It was surprisingly small and quite pretty, but I didn't need to get acquainted!

After a sunning of the humans we went back to Polzeath.  It was great to go on the beach and just laze and read a book. We had a dip in the sea and thoroughly enjoyed it. The sea was very warm.

St Columb & Mevagissy -Monday 23rd

The weather looks good and we went to Tesco to buy some flowers for the family grave. We drove to st Columb and we went through the back way by the cemetery. The sun was really coming out as we found the graves and Michael managed to find some water for the flowers. We used a cut off plastic bottle for the case inset, which worked really well. We also did the same for Richards grave and cleared the overgrowth away.

After leaving St Columb we headed off to Mevagissy . We parked on the large car park and walked down to the town. We walked along the harbour and then sat on side of the outer harbour. I spent a lovely hour chatting with a local resident who told me of her life having been born inMevagissy   and then spent her time working abroad before eventually returning to a Mevagissy . We walked back into town and had lunch at Sharskin. We had a table by an open window and a great lunch. I was glad to be out of the direct sun it was so hot.

A Late Start

Wow what happened? we went to bed okay and then it was after 9.00am when we woke up, a late start to the day.
We decided today to go to Padstow. The sun is shining and we took our books to read. We went out on the Jubilee Queen, its a bit of a must for me. Considering I do not like boats this is one of my favourite things to do in Cornwall.

It was a bit bumpy on the way out because the tide was coming in but a great ride, I however did get wet from the spray as we bounced over one high wave!
 Puffin Island

 War memorial from the estuary

We had a sandwich for lunch and then walked up over to the monument. There were swathes of wildflowers that had been planted and they looked just beautiful

The families were off home today and the children took the opportunity for a last play in the playbarn. Phoebe was upset that she had to go home but everyone got sorted eventually, and were all gone by 10.00am.

Trelawney

Before we went out this morning Joshua arrived to watch a bit of FROZEN with Lily-Rose..

This morning we went with Rachel & Ric to Trelawney Garden Centre at Sladesbridge. I love this place and it was really nice to walk around and enjoy the plants and amazing sheds they had for sale. I'm sure one of the sheds would have filled the garden, it would have made a great sewing studio!
Ric indulged Rachel and bought her some candles...I found a tin of dvd,s of the original Mr Men stories that I bought for Lily-Rose.
After Rachel and Ric went off to Newquay and we went back to the cottage to laze in the sun and read...quite blissful.
Rach and Ric had problems again  with the car and we have told them to arrange for their friend to see to it and we will pay, they need transport.
Matt & Zoe went out for a meal tonight and we baby sat or should I say the DVD FROZEN baby sat the children and the adults.... Lily-Rose went off to sleep listening as well.

The Annual Bike Ride- Wadebridge-Padstow

Yet another clear day, we could get used to this....we headed for Wadebridge to get the bikes and Rachel, Zoe and I  (with Lily-Rose) headed in cars to Padstow.

Those cycling made really good time and were not long after us getting to Padstow. The weather was perfect with a slight breeze to keep them cool as they rode.

Matt & Zoe took Amber and Joshua on the annual speedboat ride, whilst Phoebe sat it out. I think she was exhausted from her cycling. This year was the first time she cycled all the way.

We enjoyed eating al fresco and Joshua decided he particularly like my fish and chips as well as his egg sandwich!
There were a number of just one more last chips!!!

After we all got back it was down to the pool for a swim and it was good to have the pool to ourselves again.

Lets hope all is well.....

We parked up in Boscastle and headed towards the National Trust area. It was lovely the sky was so blue.

After our walk we went to the Old Manor to eat in their garden. The food was excellent and we spent a lovely hour chatting and playing with Lily-Rose
