Today after a good nights sleep and breakfast we walked to the station in Harrogate. It was the first day of the Great Yorkshire show as well so it was busy all round.
It was a pleasant walk although the hill up Commercial Street is a bit of a killer....
We caught the 9.05 to York, it was quite busy but no problem getting a seat. it was a lovely run through to York passing through Knaresborough over the River Nidd, because you are so high you look down into the gorge where Knaresborough nestles.
The weather is unbelievable and the sun is already hot. When we arrived we walked from the station into the city. There were massive queues for the National Rail Museum so we decided to try that later..
We walked towards the city centre.

| Even I look good on days like this! |
We decided to go for a short river trip and armed ourselves with a mango smoothie from Costa Coffee and went on the river..

Enjoying the view

After the boat ride it was on to York Minster
Found this tourist..
We then walked all over York. through the Shambles and then to Cliffords Tower
before finding somewhere to eat. We enjoyed lunch in a lovely air conditioned Prezzo.
Rushing to get the ice cream...
I bought a new T shirt from M & S then we wended our way back towards the rail museum, with time for an ice cream in the museum gardens and then we stopped off for a ride on the Ferris wheel.
